Westway Farms Ltd. is a pedigreed seed farm that has been a select grower and processor of seed for over 30 years in Central Alberta (Didsbury, AB). We specialize in cereal crops of 2 row malt barley, wheat, and oats and pulse crops of peas. Westway Farms Ltd. is an authorized establishment for cleaning and storage audited by Canadian seeds institute. The farm has 4 on-site seed graders and 2 authorized operators. Our high-quality seed is attained with highly trained staff, meeting and exceeding all standards of the seed industry. Westway Farms Ltd provides honest seed varietal recommendations based on our on-farm trials specifically in our geographical area. From plot production to retail of certified seed to the customer Westway Farms Ltd encompasses pedigreed seed to its fullest.

Seed Varieties

Wheat

AAC Redstar – Hard Red Spring

An early AAC Brandon type wheat.

AAC Wildfire / AAC Cold Front *NEW* - Winter Wheats

Hard red winter wheat with short strong straw, good winter survival and excellent lodging resistance.

AAC Penhold - CPS

Very short, strong strawed CPS wheat with high yield potential, improved grain protein and good disease resistance. Moderately resistant to FHB. Well adapted to all growing regions of western Canada, but especially to areas where standability and straw management are critical.

AC Foremost - CNRH

Early maturing, red-seeded spring wheat with great grain yield. Short strong straw and well adapted to growing conditions in central AB.

AAC Awesome AB - CWSP

High yielding soft white Special Purpose spring wheat. Targeted at the feed/silage market.

Barley

CDC Churchill

Out performs all existing malt varieties including AAC Synergy in both yield and stand ability.

ESMA

Very high yielding shorter 2 row variety, outperforming all varieties in the feed barley class. Very plump kernels with heavy bushel weights. Yield potential in the 150+.

Oats

Boost Forage Oats

CDC Haymaker Oats

Forage oat – standard forage variety with higher protein and lower fibre levels for greenfeed or silage.
